Over the past decade Signode has been the leader in developing and introducing the use of heavy-duty Tenax® Polyester strapping foir ingot and billet strapping to replace steel strapping. Tenax® Polyester strapping is a superior solution for the ingot an dbillet packaging as the retained tensions on the package are higher with PET than steel, there is no staining of the materials, no indentation of the products.
On billet packages the straps remain very tight around the loads even when the wooden runners are compressed or shrink during handling and storage. For ingots the PET applied in both automatic and semi-automatic systems accommodate uneven ingot packs, this enables the strap to be applied at high tension to the bundles for stable transportable packages, without the need for bundle compression during the strapping operation as in traditional steel strapping systems. |
